Head of Engineering

Location: Remote

Base salary: $240,000–$270,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Translate company, product, and technology objectives into a 1–3-year engineering plan, operating model, organizational structure, and execution roadmap.
• Lead the engineering organization, including recruiting, developing, and retaining engineering managers and technical talent.
• Set standards for planning, estimation, delivery, code quality, testing, CI/CD, on-call operations, and incident response.
• Own technical architecture, infrastructure, security, technical debt, engineering metrics, governance, and long-term platform stability.
• Partner with Product and business stakeholders on roadmap priorities, engineering capacity, sequencing, and measurable customer impact.
• Manage engineering headcount, budget, vendors, tooling spend, cloud costs, compliance, and continuous improvement programs.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience and 7+ years leading engineering managers.
• Experience building or scaling engineering organizations through a major growth or organizational inflection point.
• Experience with marketplaces, enterprise platforms, B2B SaaS, e-commerce, or distributed systems.
• Hands-on background with AWS-managed services, Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and cloud-native architecture.
• Experience with CI/CD, API-driven and service-oriented architectures, developer experience, budgets, vendors, and cost efficiency.
• Experience owning security and compliance programs, including SOC 2 controls and audit management.

Nice to have

• Experience with mobile marketplace or e-commerce businesses.
• Experience with agentic AI, LLM-powered code generation, or multi-agent orchestration.
