TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer (CNC Machining): Developing and qualifying CNC machining processes for complex aerospace and defense parts in titanium, Inconel, and steel with an accent on CAM strategy, multi-axis machining, and process capability. Focus on optimizing cutting parameters, validating repeatable production, selecting and commissioning machine tools, and applying SPC, DOE, and DFM to improve quality, cycle time, and cost.

Location: On-site in Torrance, California, United States. Relocation support may be provided in certain situations. Candidates must be eligible to work with ITAR-controlled technology as a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or through required U.S. authorizations.

Salary: $89,000–$150,000 per year, plus potential equity.

Company

hirify.global builds autonomous factories and a Factory-as-a-Service platform using AI, software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing for aerospace and defense production.

What you will do

  • Develop CNC machining processes from machining strategy and CAM direction through first-part-off and production qualification.
  • Define toolpaths, cutting parameters, workholding, fixturing, and in-process probing for complex, tight-tolerance parts.
  • Qualify repeatable production using first-article builds, Cp/Cpk studies, SPC, and DOE-driven optimization.
  • Support capital equipment selection through requirements definition, machine-tool evaluation, vendor assessment, capability studies, and factory acceptance testing.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, machine bring-up, and production ramp-up.
  • Provide DFM and tolerance feedback while improving cycle time, yield, and cost.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in CNC machining processes.
  • Deep 3–5-axis simultaneous milling and turning or mill-turn experience, with CAM proficiency in tools such as hyperMILL, NX CAM, or Mastercam.
  • Hands-on experience machining titanium, Inconel, or other difficult-to-machine alloys, including cutting tools, coatings, speeds and feeds, tool life, and thermal or distortion control.
  • Strong GD&T, workholding, fixture design, inspection, and process validation fundamentals.
  • Experience applying SPC, DOE, and process capability analysis to yield and process decisions.
  • Eligibility to work with U.S. Government space technology under ITAR regulations is required.

Nice to have

  • Capital equipment qualification, machine runoffs, vendor bring-up, or factory acceptance testing experience.
  • Greenfield machining buildout or overseas equipment qualification experience.
  • Large-format machining, mill-turn programming, or process development experience.
  • Macro programming, automated metrology, tool-life or load monitoring, and production data analysis skills.
  • Machine-shop startup, 0-to-1 process launches, or entrepreneurial ownership experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Fast-moving, high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • 401(k) and equity.
  • Flexible vacation policy.
  • Potential relocation support based on business need.
