What you will do
- Design and release tooling, fixtures, workholding, and mechanical equipment for CNC machining and manufacturing.
- Create CAD models, engineering drawings, bills of materials, and production documentation.
- Design and maintain ground support equipment for assembly, integration, testing, and transportation.
- Partner with CNC programmers, machinists, manufacturing engineers, and production technicians to optimize processes.
- Perform tolerance analyses, manufacturability reviews, fit/function evaluations, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate fabrication, procurement, installation, validation, commissioning, and continuous improvement of tooling and equipment.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in a STEM-related field.
- 3+ years of tooling or manufacturing equipment design experience.
- Experience with 3D CAD, CNC machining, GD&T, machining, sheet metal, welding, assembly, and fabrication.
- Ability to work across office and manufacturing-floor environments and support active production operations.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and work safely around industrial equipment.
Nice to have
- Experience designing fixtures for 4-axis and 5-axis CNC machining.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, workholding systems, and machine setup optimization.
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, robotics, or space hardware manufacturing.
- Experience with FEA, structural analysis, load calculations, PLM/MRP systems, or engineering change processes.
- Hands-on machining or fabrication experience and knowledge of ergonomics or operator-centered tooling design.
