Electrical Drafting Technician (Industrial Automation)

What you will do

• Develop and revise control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, schematics, and interconnect diagrams.
• Interpret requirements from electrical and automation engineers and prepare drawings for PLC-based control systems, motor controls, and instrumentation.
• Update drawings based on redlines, field changes, project revisions, and as-built conditions.
• Maintain drawing standards, templates, and documentation control systems.
• Assist with bills of materials and component selection.
• Coordinate with manufacturing and installation teams and support troubleshooting through accurate documentation.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of electrical drafting experience, preferably in industrial automation or controls.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical; EPLAN experience is preferred.
• Understanding of electrical symbols, control systems, and panel design.
• Familiarity with PLC systems, including Allen-Bradley and Siemens.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79, and UL508A standards.

Nice to have

• Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field.
• Experience with industrial automation equipment such as conveyors, robotics, or packaging lines.
• Knowledge of sensors, actuators, VFDs, ERP or PLM systems, ladder logic, and HMI interfaces.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, teamwork, and time-management skills.
