TL;DR
System Design Engineer - R&D (THz): Architecting, modelling, and designing high-speed digital and analog circuits for next-generation semiconductor and wired THz communication systems with an accent on system performance, component characterization, and scalable device technologies. Focus on modelling compensation and signal-processing circuits, analyzing experimental data, and translating R&D concepts into manufacturable solutions.

hirify.global develops wired THz transceiver technology and ASIC-based interconnects to remove networking bottlenecks in AI data centers.

What you will do

  • Architect and specify high-speed digital and analog circuits for communications systems.
  • Model component and system behavior, including compensation circuits.
  • Work with device, integration, and design teams to define requirements and validate circuits.
  • Analyze measurement results, refine models, and assess system-level impact.
  • Collaborate with R&D groups, equipment vendors, and academic or industrial research partners.
  • Document system designs, publish technical work, and improve reproducibility and device-parameter tracking.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Information Sciences, Applied Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience modelling high-speed electrical circuits for communications, including CTLE, FFE, DFE, MLSE, clock recovery, and carrier recovery.
  • Experience with linear and non-linear system design using Matlab, Python, and C++.
  • Knowledge of high-speed components such as VCOs, mixers, and amplifiers.
  • Experience with reflections, dispersion, loss, noise figure, and S-parameters, plus strong experimental-data analysis skills.
  • Fluent English and strong technical communication and documentation abilities.

Nice to have

  • Experience with baseband, optical, or THz components and waveguide modelling.
  • Experience with bit-accurate digital-circuit modelling and forward-error correction, including Reed-Solomon, BCH, or LDPC.
  • Experience with novel device technologies such as advanced CMOS, silicon photonics, or waveguides.
  • Familiarity with technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing.
