DSP Engineer (RF)

Location: On-site at Robot Ranch in Austin, TX; must be willing to relocate to Austin if not within commuting distance.

What you will do

• Own the architecture of an electromagnetic sensing application from concept through its first functional prototype.
• Design, validate, and test RF frontends, antennas, sensor hardware, and real-time FPGA processing systems.
• Develop and deploy sensor-fusion, image-processing, and object-detection algorithms in Python, R, and C/C++.
• Conduct field tests and hardware validation and qualification campaigns.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver integrated hardware and software solutions.
• Mentor new employees and participate in hiring when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
• At least 2 years of professional or project experience in RF, DSP, or electrical engineering with hands-on hardware prototyping.
• Strong understanding of signal analysis and electrical engineering fundamentals.
• Experience owning large-scale deliverables, leading teams, and driving product roadmaps.
• Comfort with RF circuits, antennas, and real-time FPGA processing.
• Willingness to work extended hours or weekends when needed for critical deadlines or urgent deployment issues.

Nice to have

• Experience with digital and image signal processing, machine learning, and high-throughput dataset analysis.
• Radar experience, including VHF/UHF antennas and RF frontends.
• FPGA hardware design, HDL programming, embedded protocols, SDR, or GNU Radio.
• PCB design, schematic capture, layout, and rapid hardware prototyping.
• Experience with Linux, antenna analysis, test campaigns, SoCs, FPGAs, MCUs, and custom ICs.
