Focus on integrating electrical, mechanical, software, and autonomy components, validating high-reliability subsystems, and bringing vehicle systems into production.

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States. Up to 25% travel to contract manufacturer and customer sites is required.

Salary: $137,000–$157,000 USD per year.

Company

Develops autonomous battery-electric rail vehicles aimed at making freight transportation cleaner, safer, and more efficient.

What you will do

  • Own the design and development of vehicle electrical systems, including wiring harnesses, commercial off-the-shelf hardware, and test stands.
  • Develop and document safety-critical subsystems using DFMEAs, system hazard analyses, verification, and validation.
  • Perform hands-on hardware bring-up, bench testing, and debugging of electrical assemblies and prototype vehicles.
  • Lead end-to-end system integration, interface management, and cross-functional alignment with software, mechanical, autonomy, and manufacturing teams.
  • Maintain schematics, bills of materials, test reports, change logs, and other engineering documentation.
  • Support subsystem validation and transition of vehicle systems into production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience with power distribution, control logic, or embedded communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, or SPI.
  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and validate system performance from first principles.
  • Experience with CAD and design tools such as SolidWorks, Altium, RapidHarness, or similar.
  • Experience working with electrical systems in regulated, safety-critical environments.

Nice to have

  • Full lifecycle experience with electrical systems in automotive, rail, aerospace, or heavy industry.
  • Programming experience with Python, Rust, or C/C++.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 26262, ASIL, IEC 61508, or other functional safety frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience designing, prototyping, integrating, and testing complex harnessing.
  • Evidence of exceptional ability through prior projects, a portfolio, or completed products.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work on autonomous battery-electric rail vehicles and safety-critical transportation technology.
  • Cross-functional collaboration across electrical, mechanical, software, autonomy, and manufacturing disciplines.
  • Inclusive workplace with equal-opportunity employment and reasonable accommodation support.
  • Compensation is determined based on skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
