TL;DR
Airframe Assembly Team Lead (Aerospace Manufacturing): Leading airframe structural assembly for electric aircraft with an accent on team management, quality, safety, production timelines, and process optimization. Location: South Burlington, Vermont, United States; onsite weekend shift on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with 12-hour production shifts.

Salary: $80,000–$95,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Lead airframe assembly technicians and promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee structural assembly according to engineering specifications, quality standards, and production timelines.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for safe, efficient, and consistent manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and quality assurance teams to resolve challenges and optimize workflows.
  • Manage materials, equipment, personnel, training, and development to meet production goals.
  • Track and improve cost, quality, on-time delivery, and productivity KPIs while identifying automation and process innovation opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in airframe assembly or manufacturing leadership, preferably in aerospace or electric vehicle industries.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace structural assembly methods and materials.
  • Experience leading teams and managing complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, process optimization, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to work in variable indoor and outdoor conditions, handle up to 50 pounds, operate material-handling equipment safely, and use required personal protective equipment.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree, advanced certifications, or hands-on experience with composite materials and lightweight structures.
  • Experience with MES, ERP systems, assembly automation, electric aircraft, or advanced structural assembly techniques.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices and lifecycle analysis in aerospace manufacturing.
  • Established aerospace industry network.
