TL;DR
Test Validation Engineer (Autonomous Driving) (HIL/Python): Building and maintaining automated hardware-in-the-loop validation frameworks for autonomous-driving ECUs and vehicle systems with an accent on safety, fault handling, communication integrity, and repeatable test execution. Focus on translating validation requirements into automated tests, debugging HIL benches with CAN and Ethernet interfaces, and improving regression and release readiness across vehicle platforms.

Location: Mountain View, California, United States

Salary: $132,300–$198,450 base pay annually, plus performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

Company

hirify.global is a physical AI company developing Level 4 autonomous driving technology and a universal autonomy platform for robotaxis, logistics fleets, and personal vehicles.

What you will do

  • Build and evolve automated hardware-in-the-loop validation frameworks for autonomous-driving ECUs and vehicle systems.
  • Translate formal validation requirements into repeatable automated tests covering nominal operation, fault handling, timing, communication integrity, and safety behavior.
  • Execute and debug validation on HIL benches using vehicle network interfaces, embedded targets, fault injection, and system emulation.
  • Partner with firmware, systems, and validation teams to define coverage, investigate failures, and improve release readiness.
  • Support automated regression and release testing, including firmware deployment, test orchestration, and structured result reporting.
  • Maintain shared framework components as vehicle platforms, ECU releases, and validation domains expand.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis and test scripting or automation using C/C++, Python, or Matlab/Simulink.
  • 3+ years of experience in test planning and experimental design, particularly for safety and repeatability.
  • Strong Python skills and hands-on experience building or maintaining automated test frameworks; pytest is preferred.
  • Practical experience integrating HIL or bench hardware, including power supplies, DAQ/I/O, cabling, and basic electrical debugging.
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture, embedded electrical systems, CAN, Ethernet, wiring harness diagrams, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related field such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, robotics, controls, or aerospace, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

  • Experience with NI PXI-based test systems, commercial HIL platforms, and real-time bench automation.
  • Understanding of systems engineering, formal verification and validation, and requirements-based test case management.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting at circuit-board and module-system levels within vehicle networks.
  • Experience with CI/CD for hardware validation, structured reporting, and test artifact management.

Culture & Benefits

  • Annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and psychological safety.
  • Fast-paced startup environment with cross-functional collaboration across engineering, product, firmware, systems, and validation teams.
