What you will do

  • Research and develop quantum error correction and fault-tolerant computing techniques.
  • Design and evaluate error-correcting codes, logical qubit architectures, fault-tolerant protocols, and decoding strategies.
  • Develop practical approaches that account for realistic hardware constraints and noise models.
  • Analyze logical error rates, resource requirements, and performance tradeoffs.
  • Build prototypes and reference implementations to validate new approaches.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, quantum algorithm researchers, hardware partners, and internal stakeholders to integrate research into scalable software solutions.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong background in quantum computing.
  • Hands-on experience with quantum error correction, fault tolerance, logical qubits, or quantum architecture.
  • Experience translating theoretical concepts into practical implementations.
  • Ability to independently drive research projects from concept to validation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with surface codes, LDPC codes, bosonic codes, subsystem codes, or related fault-tolerant architectures.
  • Experience with decoding algorithms, logical error analysis, or resource estimation.
  • Experience with quantum software frameworks, simulators, or quantum hardware teams.
  • Publications in quantum computing, fault tolerance, or quantum error correction.
  • Strong software development skills in Python.
