What you will do

  • Develop and analyze quantum error-correcting codes under realistic connectivity and hardware constraints.
  • Design and evaluate fault-tolerant operations, including multi-qubit logical gates such as lattice surgery.
  • Contribute to fault-tolerant quantum algorithms and algorithm-specific error-correction methods.
  • Design, benchmark, and improve graph-based and machine-learning-based decoding algorithms.
  • Implement and optimize decoders in Python, C/C++, or Rust, with potential FPGA deployment.
  • Estimate resources and scalability for error-corrected architectures while collaborating with hardware, control, and software teams.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in theoretical physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or a related field.
  • Deep knowledge of quantum error-correcting codes, fault-tolerant quantum algorithms, or decoding algorithms.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience developing scientific software in Python, C/C++, or Rust.
  • At least 3 years of experience in quantum error-correction areas such as connectivity-constrained code design, logical gates, fault-tolerant algorithms, or decoding.
  • Strong publication record, including at least two scientific papers in high-impact journals.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts across interdisciplinary teams and work collaboratively.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of superconducting-qubit theory.
  • Experience collaborating with hardware or experimental quantum teams.
  • Experience with code quality, testing, documentation, scalability, and extensibility.
