Test Automation Engineer (PeopleSoft/UFT)

Location: USA — Falls Church, Virginia; onsite, hybrid, or remote work as required by the contract. U.S. citizenship is required, and the role requires eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Salary: $66,100–$122,800 per year.

What you will do

• Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated tests for PeopleSoft HCM enhancements, defect fixes, releases, patches, and production support.
• Build scalable UFT automation assets, including reusable functions, libraries, object repositories, parameterized components, and data-driven scripts.
• Automate functional, regression, integration, interface, and end-to-end testing across PeopleSoft modules, batch processes, reports, security roles, and system integrations.
• Develop supporting scripts for test data management, environment setup, validation, result verification, and framework efficiency.
• Analyze execution results, logs, and backend data; perform root cause analysis and support structured defect identification and retesting.
• Collaborate with developers, QA testers, business analysts, and support teams while improving automation frameworks, regression suites, documentation, and release traceability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years of software QA and test automation experience with enterprise applications.
• Hands-on experience with OpenText UFT, including scripting, reusable components, object repositories, checkpoints, parameterization, and troubleshooting.
• Experience automating PeopleSoft HCM or similar enterprise systems, including transactions, interfaces, batch processing, reporting, and end-to-end workflows.
• Working knowledge of SQL or query-based backend data validation and experience analyzing test failures and logs.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with PeopleSoft Test Framework, PeopleTools, Process Scheduler, Integration Broker, queries, reporting, and security testing.
• Exposure to Tricentis tools such as Tosca or qTest.
• Experience supporting releases, patches, PUM updates, tax or regulatory updates, and regression impact analysis.
• Experience with defect tracking, test evidence management, and automated execution reporting in Agile environments.
• Federal or DoD program experience, secured-environment experience, or ISTQB/UFT certification.
