TL;DR
Analyst, Process Engineer - Paint Shop (Automotive Paint) (industrial automotive painting): Designing, implementing, and enhancing paint shop processes, equipment, and production standards with an accent on paint systems, robotics, quality tools, and process optimization. Focus on troubleshooting manufacturing issues, developing tooling and workflow improvements, and coordinating cross-functional projects across production, maintenance, controls, safety, and quality.

Location: Blythewood, South Carolina, United States; 4–5 days per week in the office with regular in-person meetings and occasional travel.

Salary: $80,000–$97,500 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

  • Design, implement, enhance, and optimize industrial paint shop processes, equipment, and workflows.
  • Provide technical support for automotive painting processes and troubleshoot manufacturing and equipment issues.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to scope, procure, and implement new processes, equipment, tooling, and fixture modifications.
  • Develop process standards, work instructions, workflow designs, and documentation for new product launches and ongoing operations.
  • Lead cross-functional paint and process improvement projects with operations, maintenance, controls, product design, assembly, safety, and quality teams.
  • Train manufacturing employees on products, processes, equipment, and tooling, and support safety inspections, training, and documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • At least 2 years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment, including industrial automotive painting processes.
  • Proficiency with paint systems, paint robotics, application equipment, paint quality tools, conveyors, paint booths, and visual paint inspection methods.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge with effective troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or CATIA and expertise in lean principles applied to process improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, leadership, and project management skills.
