Senior Test Engineer (Aerospace)

Salary: $130,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Select, test, and qualify aerospace systems, parts, assemblies, materials, and processes.
• Collaborate with design engineers to identify failure modes and create verification, validation, and qualification tests.
• Write and review test plans, reports, specifications, and engineering documents.
• Lead development of new testing capabilities, methods, and data acquisition systems.
• Develop procedures for test technicians and support aerospace test programs.
• Interpret test data and provide engineering recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 4+ years of experience in aerospace or aviation as a materials, test, mechanical, or systems engineer.
• Experience selecting, qualifying, characterizing, or acceptance-testing aerospace materials, structures, parts, or systems.
• Knowledge of industry test standards such as ASTM, FAA, SACMA, SAE, DO-160, or ISO.
• Experience with material and part failure modes, aviation environmental conditions, mechanical test equipment, sensors, load cells, strain gauges, actuators, universal test machines, and DAQ systems.
• Ability to organize and interpret test data and communicate findings through technical reports and presentations.
• Criminal background check and applicable drug test clearance required; ability to lift 30 pounds.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of experience with FAA certification requirements or qualifying flight systems.
• Project management experience in aerospace, engineering, or manufacturing.
• Experience with AS9100, NADCAP, or ISO-certified test laboratories.
• Programming experience with LabVIEW, PLCs, or similar test-equipment systems.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB, R, JMP, Tableau, structural testing, strain-gauge measurements, or Digital Image Correlation.
