TL;DR
Manufacturing Technician - Motors (Electric Aviation): Building and assembling electric powertrain components for innovative electric aircraft with an accent on manufacturing process ownership, in-process quality inspection, and production documentation. Focus on refining low-volume production processes, designing jigs and fixtures, integrating engineering changes, and improving manufacturing quality and throughput.

Location: Onsite in South Burlington, Vermont, United States

Salary: $26–$34 USD per hour

What you will do

  • Assemble electric powertrain components by hand in a developing low-volume production area.
  • Own and maintain manufacturing processes while improving quality, productivity, and throughput.
  • Perform in-process quality inspections, identify process deviations, and support troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate assembly documentation, process data, maintenance logs, productivity reports, and incident reports.
  • Inspect, clean, and perform routine maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
  • Apply required safety equipment and comply with company and government safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Two-year degree or certificate from an accredited college, university, or technical school preferred.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, specifications, and schematics.
  • Understanding of electric motor operation.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma or continuous improvement, Lean 5S, and Kanban preferred.
  • Strong team communication skills and proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice to have

  • Experience building electric motors or working in aerospace manufacturing.
  • CAD experience, particularly 3DX or CATIA.
  • Experience taking a product from engineering release through full-rate production.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, perform repetitive tasks, and demonstrate manual dexterity.
