Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Motors

Salary: $149,500–$209,000 USD per year base salary, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Lead internal motor manufacturing from initial equipment bring-up through serial production.
• Design, implement, and improve processes, layouts, and workflows for brushless DC motor assembly.
• Specify, procure, and maintain production equipment, including winding machines, magnet insertion fixtures, dynamic balancers, and automated soldering stations.
• Analyze defects and motor failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve yield.
• Create work instructions, tooling documentation, and quality-control checklists for assembly technicians.
• Collaborate with R&D and Design on scalable, cost-effective, and repeatable motor designs while coordinating incoming material quality with suppliers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 3 years of manufacturing experience, preferably with electric motors, rotating machinery, or precision electromechanical assembly.
• Deep knowledge of brushless motor architecture, including stators, rotors, magnetic circuits, and KV ratings.
• Hands-on experience with precision winding techniques and balancing equipment.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Inventor for jigs, fixtures, and line layouts.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, and FMEA, plus strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience managing equipment vendors, particularly Mandarin-speaking suppliers.
• Industry contacts for automation equipment, tooling, and metal component sourcing.
• Ability to work independently with strong ownership and communicate effectively across functions.
