Wafer Equipment Maintenance Technician

Location: Onsite in Fremont, California, United States. 12-hour AWS shifts, including weekends and overtime as required. Work takes place in a Class 100 cleanroom.

Salary: $69,200–$92,200 per year, with potential overtime and shift differential pay.

What you will do

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on wafer fabrication and production equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair tools, identify root causes, and improve long-term equipment reliability.
• Document maintenance activities, parts usage, PM checklists, and service history in tool logbooks and CMMS.
• Support Tool Owners and Equipment Engineers in improving tool performance and uptime.
• Follow cleanroom, electrical safety, and operational procedures while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
• Develop technical skills and certifications through formal training and on-the-job learning.

Requirements

• Entry-level experience in equipment maintenance or a related field with strong electro-mechanical aptitude.
• Hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and stand for extended periods during 12-hour shifts.
• Willingness to work onsite, overtime, weekends, and flexible schedules.
• Ability to work independently while following cleanroom and safety protocols.

Nice to have

• Experience with semiconductor wafer fabrication equipment, including Photo, Thin Films, Plating, Etch, or CMP tools.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of control systems and PLCs.
• Experience with failure analysis, root cause determination, repair documentation, DVMs, and mechanical hand tools.
