TL;DR
Maintenance Technician III (Semiconductor Manufacturing): Sustaining, troubleshooting, and improving semiconductor manufacturing equipment with an accent on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and vacuum-system maintenance. Focus on diagnosing recurring equipment failures, recovering down tools, managing preventive maintenance, and improving equipment reliability and uptime.

Location: Manassas, Virginia, United States; on-site semiconductor manufacturing clean-room environment. 12-hour shifts, extensive standing and walking, ladder climbing, and lifting up to 35 lbs. Travel: 10%.

Salary: $23.00–$31.40 per hour

What you will do

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment recoveries, documentation updates, and long-term down-tool recovery activities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and electro-mechanical systems to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Use schematics, diagnostic tools, and data analysis to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain equipment records, maintenance documentation, shift pass-downs, spare-parts inventory, and preventive-maintenance plans.
  • Communicate equipment status and recovery plans to Customer Engineers, management, and customer stakeholders.
  • Mentor team members and support continuous improvement, safety, reliability, uptime, and maintenance-effectiveness initiatives.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including AC/DC circuits, electronics, pneumatics, and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and maintenance procedures.
  • Experience using digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, stand for extended periods, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work in a clean-room environment with required PPE, including coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields.
  • Ability to document work accurately, manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively.

Nice to have

  • Associate of Applied Science degree in Electronics, Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical field; military technical training; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience maintaining semiconductor manufacturing equipment, including Dry Etch, Plasma Processing, Vacuum Systems, or RF Systems.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 6S, TPM, factory automation, and maintenance-management practices.
