TL;DR
Part Time Fixed Wing Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) (Electric Aviation): Providing flight and ground instruction, proficiency flights, evaluation flights, and discovery experiences across fixed-wing aircraft with an accent on safety, standardization, and pilot development. Focus on delivering structured Part 61 training, maintaining accurate training records, supporting operational readiness, and improving training materials and procedures.

Location: South Burlington, Vermont, United States; primarily onsite at the Burlington headquarters

Salary: $30–$35 USD per hour

What you will do

  • Provide flight instruction under Part 61 in line with BETA training standards.
  • Conduct dual instruction, proficiency flights, evaluation flights, discovery flights, and other flight experiences.
  • Deliver ground instruction, briefings, and debriefings using standardized curricula.
  • Support pilot onboarding and internal engagement events by explaining flight training programs and safety practices.
  • Maintain aircraft care and operational readiness, including cleanliness and ramp activities.
  • Maintain training records, coordinate schedules with students, and improve training materials, SOPs, and operational documentation.

Requirements

  • Commercial Pilot Certificate with Airplane Single Engine Land (ASEL) rating.
  • Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and Certified Flight Instructor–Instrument (CFII) certificates.
  • At least 500 total flight hours and 150 hours of dual instruction given.
  • High Performance and Complex endorsements, a valid second-class medical certificate, and a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Strong communication, judgment, and instructional skills, with the ability to work professionally in a structured, safety-focused environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends, and to work in flight line, hangar, classroom, and office environments.

Nice to have

  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
  • 1,000+ total flight hours or 500+ hours of dual instruction given.
  • Seaplane rating and instructional experience, tailwheel experience, or Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI) certification.
  • Experience with technically advanced or electric aircraft and corporate, test, or high-accountability flight operations.
