Associate QA Engineer

Location: Santa Barbara, California, United States

Salary: $70,000–$82,000 USD per year, plus a potential 5% variable annual bonus and eligibility for an RSU grant.

What you will do

• Perform quality assurance checks during internal development and help ensure production-ready releases.
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers to clarify requirements, identify edge cases, and define acceptance criteria.
• Design, document, and execute structured test scenarios, test cases, and automated test scripts.
• Record findings, uncover and track defects, and work with developers through resolution.
• Participate in bug triage, release readiness reviews, risk management, and change management.
• Maintain test plans, schedules, progress reports, and quality documentation while supporting stronger testing practices.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of professional quality assurance experience in a software development environment.
• Experience with test automation tools or frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar.
• Ability to design and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases using established testing methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases, particularly MySQL.
• Proficiency with Git and a full understanding of the software development lifecycle.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate with development teams, learn new systems, and share knowledge.
