Verification Engineer - Flight Instruments | Systems (Aerospace) (Avionics and flight instruments): Defining, executing, and documenting verification activities for certifying electric aircraft systems with an accent on requirements-based testing, test automation, and certification traceability. Focus on developing bench and aircraft test scripts, analyzing coverage against ARP4754A/DO-178C/DO-254 objectives, and troubleshooting across hardware and software boundaries.

Location: Hybrid role in South Burlington, Vermont, United States

Salary: $80,000–$120,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Author, execute, and maintain system- and subsystem-level test plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Develop and run test scripts in bench and aircraft testing environments.
  • Perform requirements traceability analysis and coverage assessments against ARP4754A, DO-178C, and DO-254 objectives.
  • Contribute to verification strategy development and certification deliverables.
  • Lead test witnessing, troubleshooting, and results analysis across hardware and software boundaries.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams and suppliers to validate system functionality and integration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, software engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with ARP4754A-based verification and familiarity with DO-178C and/or DO-254.
  • Proficiency in Python or C for test automation or scripting.
  • Experience with requirements-based testing, regression testing, and traceability audits.
  • Experience with verification tools such as Polarion, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • Experience verifying displays, crew alerting systems, avionics interfaces, or interface control documents.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Vector CANoe or similar automotive test environments.
  • Aerospace or automotive verification and validation background.
  • Familiarity with ARINC 429, CAN, or other vehicle bus protocols.
  • Experience in a certifying environment, including Part 23, 25, 27, 29, or DO-based programs.
