Senior Robotics SWE, System Identification & Modeling (Robotics)

What you will do

• Design and execute system-identification experiments for motors, arms, elevators, drivetrains, and other robot subsystems.
• Develop dynamic models, parameter-estimation pipelines, and feedforward and feedback controllers.
• Own kinematic calibration workflows, including DH parameter identification, wheel-radius estimation, and tool-center-point calibration.
• Build automated calibration and system-identification tooling for production hardware and new platform deployments.
• Integrate perception, planning, and control into reliable robot behaviors and task-level intelligence across nominal and edge-case scenarios.
• Collaborate with hardware, AI, controls, and infrastructure teams; resolve production issues, lead design reviews, and mentor engineers and technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience building production robotics systems.
• Strong knowledge of dynamics, controls, system identification, least-squares regression, parameter estimation, state-space and transfer-function modeling, and controller design.
• Hands-on experience characterizing electromechanical systems and integrating software with sensors, actuators, and embedded systems.
• Strong proficiency in Rust, Python, or C++.
• Willingness to support production operations through an on-call rotation.

Nice to have

• Experience with nonlinear system identification, optimal estimation, adaptive control, or neural-network-based model learning.
• Familiarity with MuJoCo, Drake, Isaac Sim, and sim-to-real transfer.
• Experience with real-time embedded systems, RTOS, bare-metal firmware, ROS/ROS 2, safety-critical systems, or robot telemetry pipelines.
• Exposure to warehousing, manufacturing, or logistics automation.
