Senior/Staff Embedded Software Engineer, Robotics Devices (Robotics)

Location: Milpitas, California, United States; 5 days per week in-office

Salary: $160,000–$265,000 USD annually, plus bonus and equity

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of embedded software stacks across embedded Linux, RTOS, and microcontroller platforms.
• Architect and implement integrations for sensors, actuators, and robotic devices, including vendor evaluation, communication protocols, device drivers, and middleware.
• Analyze performance and debug hardware and software to ensure real-time behavior, robustness, and reliability.
• Apply knowledge of physical devices to design control interfaces and evaluate system performance tradeoffs.
• Contribute to technical roadmaps, mentor engineers, and maintain engineering quality through code reviews and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM field.
• 5+ years of experience building and shipping production-quality embedded or systems-level software.
• Strong proficiency in modern C++ and Python for performance-critical, hardware-adjacent software.
• Experience working with large, complex systems and developing tooling for development, testing, and deployment.
• Experience reviewing schematics and collaborating closely with hardware teams.
• Availability for 5 days per week of in-office collaboration in Milpitas, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with ROS-based robotics development.
• Hands-on experience integrating cameras, LiDAR, or radar.
• Experience with DSP, sensor calibration, or motor controller development.
