Versatile Engineer (Fusion Technology)

hirify.global develops stellarator-based fusion power plants using advanced computation, machine learning, and high-temperature superconducting magnets to enable commercially viable clean energy.

What you will do

• Develop pellet injector technologies and integrated systems for injecting frozen hydrogen isotope pellets into fusion plasma.
• Design machines and components in CAD while assessing production feasibility and managing technical risks.
• Build and manufacture prototypes, test components and subsystems, and develop test methodologies and plans.
• Create modeling and analysis tools, explore technology trade spaces, and validate models against experimental data.
• Define diagnostics, own data acquisition and analysis, and collaborate with established research institutions and suppliers.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• Experience in at least two areas such as mechanical design, cryogenics, vacuum systems, testing, or diagnostics.
• Experience with early-stage, first-principles modeling and simulation for technology trade studies.
• Ability to combine hands-on prototyping and experimental work with programming and data evaluation.
• Experience selecting materials, planning test campaigns, and evaluating technology feasibility.

Nice to have

• Python experience.
• Specialized experience such as high-power lasers or high-energy ballistics.
