TL;DR
Avionics Telemetry Engineer (Hypersonic Aerospace): Designing, integrating, testing, and maintaining instrumentation, network, and telemetry systems for reusable hypersonic aircraft with an accent on real-time mission monitoring, flight-test data acquisition, and RF telemetry. Focus on configuring aircraft data systems, developing subsystem requirements, integrating sensors and data acquisition hardware, and supporting flight-readiness and post-flight analysis.

Location: Onsite in Mojave, California, United States. Travel is expected as needed and estimated at less than 10%.

Base salary: $101,100–$146,500 for Level II or $120,500–$158,000 for Senior Level, annually.

hirify.global develops reusable air-launched hypersonic testbeds and provides flight data for validating advanced aerospace systems and supporting national security applications.

What you will do

  • Develop requirements, architectures, tests, and operating procedures for aircraft instrumentation, network, and telemetry systems.
  • Prepare and configure data-system assets for local and extended-range flight tests and mission operations.
  • Select and integrate sensors, data acquisition units, computers, network switches, RF telemetry equipment, and aircraft harnesses.
  • Configure instrumentation systems for real-time mission monitoring and post-flight data analysis.
  • Develop and maintain configuration, simulation, deployment, and analysis tools.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, network engineers, technicians, and flight-test stakeholders; prepare material for design, flight-readiness, and post-operation reviews.

Requirements

  • Experience in telemetry, instrumentation, or network engineering in an operational or regulated test environment.
  • Experience with Ethernet networking, TCP, UDP, multicasting, distributed data acquisition systems, and mission-control software.
  • Knowledge of RF transmitters, receivers, encoders, decoders, data acquisition systems, and dataloggers.
  • Experience writing and managing system or subsystem requirements.
  • Programming experience in at least one of C, C++, C#, or Python; familiarity with Git and Jenkins or Bamboo.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET-level or higher security clearance. U.S. citizenship may be required for certain government-cleared or restricted positions.

Nice to have

  • Experience with hypersonic, high-Mach, guided, payload, military, aircraft, or launch-vehicle systems.
  • Flight-test instrumentation, aircraft harness design and manufacturing, aircraft build, piloting, or flight-test experience.
  • Experience with RF telemetry end-to-end testing, IRIG 106 standards, mission-control-room consoles, or requirements tools such as JAMA and DOORS.
  • Experience with relational, document, or time-series databases and Curtiss-Wright or Safran data acquisition units.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
