TL;DR
Principal, Integrated Test Operations Lead (Aerospace): Planning and executing integrated ground and flight test campaigns for autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, mission software, and space-based interceptors with an accent on test readiness, safety, instrumentation, and cross-functional coordination. Focus on directing real-time test operations, supporting go/no-go decisions, responding to anomalies, and incorporating post-test data and lessons learned into subsequent campaigns.

Location: Fully onsite at the GravityWorks factory in Centennial, Colorado, or Long Beach, California; U.S. work authorization is required under ITAR regulations.

Salary: $165,000–$285,000 base salary annually, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

  • Plan and execute integrated ground and flight test campaigns, including configurations, success criteria, instrumentation, and data-collection requirements.
  • Lead test-readiness activities and ensure technical, operational, safety, and pre-test actions are complete.
  • Direct real-time test execution, coordinate engineering, safety, operations, and range teams, and maintain disciplined adherence to procedures.
  • Provide structured input to go/no-go decisions and lead initial responses to anomalies and off-nominal conditions.
  • Maintain integrated test schedules, identify execution risks, and drive mitigation strategies.
  • Lead initial post-test assessments, data-integrity checks, anomaly triage, and incorporation of lessons learned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, or complex system testing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing integrated ground or flight tests and translating engineering requirements into executable procedures.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in high-tempo, high-consequence operational environments.
  • Experience with safety-critical systems and rigorous safety and mission-assurance standards.
  • Ability to maintain or obtain TS//SCI clearance and meet U.S. ITAR authorization requirements.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience with missile systems, launch vehicles, or high-performance flight systems.
  • Prior experience as a test conductor, test director, or equivalent live-test operations lead.
  • Familiarity with government or commercial test-range operations, telemetry, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
  • Background in GNC, propulsion, integrated vehicle systems, readiness reviews, complex scheduling, or configuration management.
