Founding iOS Engineer

Location: New York City, United States; hybrid with 3 days per week in the office

Salary: $180K–$220K per year plus equity

What you will do

• Build and ship the first iOS app from project setup and architecture through the initial production experience.
• Partner with Product and Design to create polished mobile experiences and cohesive web-to-mobile interactions.
• Develop AI-native chat UX and establish the quality standard for native iOS interactions.
• Make core technical decisions as the founding iOS engineer and shape long-term mobile engineering practices.
• Create scalable abstractions, modular architecture, reusable components, testing strategies, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Help establish the foundation for a future mobile team and mentor future hires.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and maintaining user-facing iOS applications with real production usage.
• NYC-based and willing to work from the office 3 days per week.
• Strong product and design intuition, with a history of creating polished, user-focused iOS experiences.
• Ability to solve ambiguous problems independently and turn ideas into production-ready products.
• Experience with modern mobile architecture, patterns, and engineering best practices.
• Customer-focused approach and strong judgment in designing mobile experiences.

Hiring process

• 20-minute recruiter screening.
• 45-minute technical debugging screen, 45-minute system design screen, and a 2-hour jam session.
• Behavioral interviews with the Head of Engineering and CEO, followed by references.
