Staff Software Engineer-iOS (Automotive)

Location: Fremont, California, United States; hybrid schedule with 2 days per week in the office and occasional travel for company events.

Salary: $181,500–$220,000 annual base salary for California, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Define the technical vision, architecture, and long-term strategy for the iOS platform and customer-facing mobile experiences.
• Lead development of iOS products for vehicle connectivity, mapping and navigation, EV charging, vehicle purchasing, and other digital initiatives.
• Drive technical decisions and resolve systemic challenges involving scalability, performance, reliability, code quality, and developer productivity.
• Establish engineering best practices and architectural consistency across multiple teams.
• Mentor and coach engineers through architecture reviews, design discussions, code reviews, and hands-on collaboration.
• Partner with engineering, product management, design, and other stakeholders to deliver complex initiatives from concept through release.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience shipping customer-facing iOS applications.
• Deep expertise in Swift, SwiftUI, and modern iOS development practices.
• Experience defining mobile architecture, technical strategy, and engineering practices across multiple products or teams.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and mobile release processes.
• Strong communication, influencing, prioritization, and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice to have

• Automotive industry experience or experience building mobile applications connected to IoT devices.
• Experience with mobile testing, experimentation frameworks, and automation frameworks.
• Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure.
• Experience in startup environments, launching 0-to-1 products, and evolving highly customized applications.
