TL;DR
Systems Engineer - High Voltage Power / Low Voltage Power (Electric Aviation): Architecting and integrating safe electrical power systems for electric aircraft with an accent on high- and low-voltage power storage, generation, distribution, and aerospace certification. Focus on defining and verifying aircraft and component requirements, applying ARP4754 and ARP4761 processes, supporting safety analyses, and generating certification documentation for regulatory authorities.

Location: South Burlington, Vermont, United States

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Architect safe electrical power systems for electric aircraft using SAE ARP4754A system development processes.
  • Generate, manage, validate, and verify aircraft, system, and component requirements.
  • Perform hands-on aircraft and system integration for development and certification testing.
  • Create certification and qualification plans, procedures, and test reports.
  • Support ARP4761 safety assessments, certification activities, and technical position development.
  • Collaborate with Certification Engineers, DERs, design, software, hardware, safety, and systems engineering teams, as well as regulatory authorities.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience with SAE ARP4754A, ARP4761, and aerospace certification processes.
  • At least 3 years of experience applying RTCA DO-160G environmental test procedures.
  • At least 3 years of experience interfacing with DO-178C software development processes.
  • 5+ years of experience with high-voltage and/or low-voltage electrical power storage, generation, and distribution systems is preferred for the role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally on requirements, safety, integration, and certification activities.

Nice to have

  • Experience with battery, high-voltage, or power systems.
  • Knowledge of RTCA DO-311A, SAE J1772, aircraft regulations under Part 23, 25, or 27, electrical load analysis, or circuit protection analysis.
  • Experience collaborating with regulators, scripting and test automation, or Polarion and other application lifecycle management software.
