Senior Design Manager (Data Center Construction)

Salary: $150,000–$210,000 plus bonus

What you will do

• Lead projects from inception through customer or business turnover, with primary responsibility for preconstruction and design phases.
• Coordinate architects, consultants, equipment providers, general contractors, Operations, sales, and solutions engineering teams.
• Manage third-party design teams, design schedules, deliverables, review cycles, design gating, variances, and required approvals.
• Support construction managers with project budgets, cost models, funding requests, reporting, and project risk registers.
• Review construction plans and communicate technical designs and customer requirements to internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead design management teams and potentially expand responsibility across multiple projects, buildings, or regions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• 9+ years of progressive experience managing commercial construction project design programs; data center experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with design engineering, design deliverables, design team management, and construction project scopes.
• Advanced Excel, Smartsheet, and/or AutoCAD experience, with the ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of construction cost estimating, scope development, schedule changes, and forecasting project cost impacts.
• Ability to travel up to 25% at times.

Nice to have

• Mechanical or electrical background.
• Experience with IPD, design-build, or construction management.
• Data center design and construction experience, particularly with MEP systems.
• Experience with MS Project, Prolog, Procore, BIM 360, or similar project management software.
• CAD experience.
