Payroll Specialist (Renewable Energy)

Salary: $100,000–$132,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Support end-to-end U.S. payroll processing, including bonuses, relocations, severance, and termination final pay.
• Maintain Workday payroll data integrity and audit changes against supporting documentation.
• Investigate payroll inconsistencies and edge cases, escalating issues when needed.
• Partner with HR on leave-of-absence payments, calculations, and estimated top-off payments.
• Reconcile medical, dental, vision, 401(k), HSA, and other benefits invoices against payroll deductions and enrollment data.
• Maintain payroll controls, audit trails, tax registrations, and relationships with external payroll providers.

Requirements

• 7–10+ years of U.S. payroll experience, preferably in complex, high-growth environments.
• Deep Workday experience, including business processes and EIB loads.
• Advanced Excel skills for leave-of-absence calculations and benefits reconciliations.
• Ability to draft SOPs and explain complex pay impacts clearly and empathetically.
• Working knowledge of U.S. payroll regulations, state-specific requirements, risks, and internal controls.

Nice to have

• Experience with OneSource Virtual, Sequoia, GoNavia, Empower, or HSA Bank.
• CPP or FCP certification.
