Software Engineer (Frontend/Design Systems)

Location: Remote in the United States or Canada; SF office available.

Salary: $160,000–$270,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Own the technical direction of the design system, including token architecture, components, tooling, testing, and adoption.
• Define component APIs, documentation, guardrails, and workflows that help AI coding agents generate production-quality UI.
• Modernize frontend architecture, development patterns, and tooling.
• Improve frontend performance, accessibility, responsiveness, and interaction quality.
• Build reliable infrastructure for testing, visual regression, CI/CD, and versioned releases.
• Establish frontend best practices and influence product decisions across engineering and design.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience building frontend products with ownership of architecture or technical direction.
• Experience owning or significantly evolving a design system used across multiple teams or products.
• Deep expertise in TypeScript, component architecture, and modern frontend tooling.
• Experience improving performance, accessibility, usability, and interaction design.
• Strong product and design judgment, clear communication, and effective collaboration across engineering and design.
• United States applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; United Kingdom applicants must provide right-to-work verification.

Nice to have

• Experience with React, Storybook, and data visualization libraries such as visx, D3, or Chart.js.
• Experience building B2B SaaS or highly interactive, data-rich applications.
• Interest in AI-assisted development workflows.
