UI/UX Engineer (React)

Location: United States; fully remote. No travel required.

Salary: $128,039–$173,229 annually.

What you will do

• Translate UX research, user insights, and high-fidelity prototypes into responsive front-end applications and reusable React components.
• Develop production-ready interfaces with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3/Sass, and responsive design principles.
• Apply human-centered design, usability research, prototyping, heuristic evaluation, card sorting, and A/B testing throughout Agile delivery.
• Evaluate and improve interfaces against Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility requirements.
• Establish design-system standards, reusable templates, component architectures, and UX governance practices.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, developers, HCD specialists, QA, compliance teams, and stakeholders to improve usability, performance, security, and release quality.

Requirements

• 10+ years of general information systems experience and 8+ years of specialized UI/UX design and development experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong proficiency in React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, Sass, responsive design, and reusable functional components.
• Experience with Figma, Sketch, Miro, Axure, InVision, Storybook, or comparable tools.
• Practical experience with federal accessibility standards and validation tools such as Axe, WAVE, Color Oracle, or Siteimprove.
• Understanding of Agile/SAFe delivery, DesignOps, design systems, analytics-driven UX optimization, secure UI principles, and Zero Trust design concepts.

Nice to have

• Experience with federal programs, government modernization initiatives, or complex case management applications.
• Certified Usability Analyst, Certified HCD Professional, SAFe Agile Practitioner, Section 508 Trusted Tester, NN/g, IDEO, HFI, or comparable UX/HCD certification.
