TL;DR
Software Support Engineer (Robotics): Monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining 24/7 automation and robotic systems through a Tier 2 Network Operations Center with an accent on incident response, system reliability, and cross-functional escalation. Focus on analyzing production incidents, improving system stability, supporting updates, and developing scripts, dashboards, runbooks, and troubleshooting tools.

Location: Wilmington, Massachusetts, USA; hybrid schedule with two days per week onsite at headquarters and two days remote

Salary: $82,000–$113,300 per year, plus medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), PTO, and other benefits.

What you will do

  • Act as a technical escalation point for live customer-site operations and resolve production-impacting system issues.
  • Support incident response through triage, mitigation, escalation coordination, stakeholder communication, and root cause analysis.
  • Monitor system performance, respond to alerts, and maintain high availability and reliability across automation systems.
  • Partner with Software, Hardware, Systems, Controls, Operations, and Engineering teams to troubleshoot issues and improve system stability.
  • Support software, system, and network updates, including validation and deployment-readiness activities.
  • Create dashboards, reports, runbooks, technical documentation, training materials, scripts, and workflow improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in technical support, NOC operations, systems engineering, site reliability, or a similar operational support environment.
  • Experience with production-system support, incident response, escalation management, root cause analysis, and operational documentation.
  • Proficiency with Linux/Unix environments and scripting languages such as Python.
  • Familiarity with automation, controls, or material-handling systems, including PLCs, VFDs, motion control, or servo tuning; hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting experience is required.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule in Wilmington, MA, including two onsite days per week, and participate in the Wednesday–Saturday 10x7 operational support model with on-call rotations.

Nice to have

  • Allen-Bradley ControlLogix experience.
  • Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or similar dashboard and reporting tools.
  • Exposure to databases, data warehouses, or knowledge-based systems.
