TL;DR
Aircraft Systems Engineer (Electric Aviation): Defining, executing, and documenting aircraft-level systems verification activities for electric aircraft with an accent on requirements traceability, certification evidence, and flight-test coverage. Focus on developing verification plans and procedures, coordinating ground and flight testing, and closing compliance gaps against ARP4754A and ARP4761 objectives.

Location: South Burlington, Vermont, United States; physical onsite presence required

Salary: $120,000–$155,000 USD annually

What you will do

  • Own and maintain verification plans for aircraft-level system requirements, including traceability and coverage assessments.
  • Review certification flight-test plans and coordinate with flight-test, ground-test, laboratory, and systems engineering teams.
  • Develop test procedures and verification approaches based on analysis, design review, inspection, simulation, and coverage analysis.
  • Plan verification schedules, manage dependencies, and lead or support Test Readiness Reviews.
  • Track verification status, identify gaps and schedule risks, and coordinate issue closure with program leadership.
  • Author or oversee verification reports and coordinate certification evidence with engineering teams, DERs, and the FAA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, electrical, software, mechanical, or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of SAE ARP 4754A and ARP 4761.
  • Experience with requirements-based testing, regression testing, and traceability audits.
  • Proficiency with Application Lifecycle Management tools such as Polarion, plus familiarity with JIRA and Confluence.
  • Preferred: 5+ years of experience on Part 23, 25, or 27 aircraft or rotorcraft programs.

Nice to have

  • Flight-test experience and familiarity with aircraft certification flight testing.
  • Background in aerospace verification and validation in a certifying environment.
