TL;DR
Lead Systems Engineer (Aerospace): Defining, integrating, and validating mission-critical autonomous space and defense systems with an accent on requirements engineering, MBSE, system architecture, and mission-level verification. Focus on leading RV&V products, gate reviews, interface definition, engineering review boards, and risk mitigation for complex space missions.

Location: Fully onsite at the Centennial, Colorado office

Base salary: $155,000–$300,000 for Staff level or $155,000–$315,000 for Principal level, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

  • Own requirements, verification, and validation activities across complex space systems.
  • Lead systems engineering processes, MBSE and requirements-tool integration, and gate review execution.
  • Define and decompose mission and system requirements, verification products, test plans, and validation strategies.
  • Guide interface definition and lead mission- and vehicle-level integration and gating reviews.
  • Oversee systems engineering activities, tasking, and prioritization across program teams.
  • Lead or delegate Engineering Review Boards and Failure Review Boards, including hardware acceptance for vehicle integration.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of full-lifecycle experience for Staff level or 15+ years for Principal level, including leading a vehicle through design, test, and verification.
  • Strong systems architecture, technical leadership, analytical, communication, and technical trade-study skills.
  • Systems engineering experience across mechanical, electrical, and software domains, including requirements, verification, interface control, trade studies, and failure analysis.
  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams and coordinating across hardware and software boundaries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for DoD TS/SCI or TS/SAP U.S. government security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
  • Expertise with Model-Based Systems Engineering.
  • Experience with range certification, test readiness reviews, safety boards, defense, or classified space missions.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance and familiarity with DoD and NASA standards and processes.
  • Experience working with government agencies, prime contractors, or subcontractors on space missions.
