Company
develops autonomous heavy machinery that combines software, hardware, robotics, and mission-critical infrastructure for construction and earthmoving operations.
What you will do
- Architect and develop multi-sensor fusion algorithms using LiDAR, IMU, GNSS, wheel odometry, and vehicle kinematics.
- Advance mapping capabilities including point cloud registration, loop closure, dynamic map updates, alignment, and fleet-wide map distribution.
- Build automated intrinsic, extrinsic, and spatio-temporal calibration pipelines for complex sensor rigs.
- Implement and optimize graph- and filter-based localization algorithms for real-time deployment on edge hardware.
- Integrate SLAM with perception, planning, controls, machine-awareness, and safety systems.
- Analyze field telemetry and logs to identify drift, failure modes, and edge cases, then improve system robustness through validation on active jobsites.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs or Masterβs degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience building SLAM, state estimation, or localization systems for real hardware.
- Strong foundation in 3D geometry, linear algebra, probabilistic robotics, kinematics, and optimization.
- Expertise with EKF, UKF, particle filters, and optimization frameworks such as GTSAM, Ceres Solver, or g2o.
- Advanced programming skills in modern C++ and Python, with experience in LiDAR odometry, mapping, ICP, NDT, and large 3D point clouds.
- Experience developing sensor calibration pipelines, coupling IMU data with LiDAR, visual, or GNSS measurements, and debugging complex robotic systems using logs and performance metrics.
Nice to have
- Experience with off-road autonomous vehicles, agriculture, mining, or heavy machinery.
- Experience with continuous or online calibration algorithms for mechanical shifts during operation.
- Experience with complex vehicle kinematics, severe wheel or track slip, and map obsolescence in dynamic environments.
Culture & Benefits
- Work on safety-critical autonomous machines operating in challenging physical environments.
- Collaborate across perception, planning, controls, machine operations, and field engineering.
- Use real-world field data and operator feedback to continuously improve deployed systems.
- Compensation includes equity and a bonus in addition to salary.
