Senior Software Engineer, Localization (C++)

Salary: $165,000–$220,000 annually plus equity

What you will do

• Prototype and productionize vision navigation and targeting features from simulation through hardware-in-the-loop testing and flight using modern C++.
• Design measurement models and decision-aware estimation for EO/IR, RF, radar, LiDAR, camera, IMU, and GNSS detections.
• Stabilize GNSS-to-VIO handovers through adaptive covariances, gating, hysteresis, and reset-less alignment.
• Build and optimize real-time Linux and embedded software, including CPU/GPU profiling and optional CUDA/TensorRT deployment on NVIDIA Jetson.
• Own sensor calibration and time synchronization, validate systems in flight, and implement fault detection and graceful degradation.
• Create evaluation pipelines and dashboards for drift, relocalization, handover stability, and track quality.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience and a BS, MS, PhD, or equivalent practical experience in computer science, robotics, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
• Strong modern C++ development on Linux, Python tooling and analysis, debugging, profiling, testing, and production delivery skills.
• Experience with SLAM and state estimation, including error-state EKF/UKF, factor graphs, nonlinear least-squares, observability, and covariance tuning.
• Experience with VIO/SLAM, camera models, optical flow, feature tracking, and sensor integration across IMU, GNSS/RTK, cameras, LiDAR, radar, magnetometers, and barometers.
• Proven ability to ship and flight-test research-to-production software on real platforms.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to access technology controlled under U.S. export control laws without sponsorship for an export license.

Nice to have

• CUDA, TensorRT, ONNX Runtime, NVIDIA Jetson, ROS 2, PX4, or ArduPilot experience.
• Experience with data validation in CI, SQL, Parquet, and reproducible datasets.
• Experience in contested or denied RF, low-light/night, and high-vibration environments.
• Rust systems tooling and Docker for reproducibility.
