AI Product Engineers

Location: Hybrid in New York City, with in-person collaboration at the office 3+ days per week

Salary: $200,000–$300,000 per year, commensurate with experience

hirify.global is a startup building AI-powered software that replaces legacy systems for municipalities and counties and streamlines government services.

What you will do

• Expand AI AutoCheck coverage and accuracy for permit application reviews.
• Improve the AI Community Assistant's retrieval grounding and evaluation infrastructure across jurisdictions, languages, and question types.
• Use production usage data from paying customers to prioritize product improvements.
• Explore and define new AI-powered government product capabilities.
• Build and ship UI, APIs, retrieval systems, and model infrastructure, iterating quickly in production.
• Collaborate with product stakeholders and take ownership of ambiguous AI product decisions.

Requirements

• Experience building production systems with LLMs beyond prompt wrapping, including retrieval-augmented generation, evaluation harnesses, or hallucination mitigation.
• Ability to develop AI systems reliable enough for government reviewers and other real users.
• Strong product judgment and comfort defining solutions where no established playbook exists.
• Strong full-stack development ability across UI, APIs, and retrieval/model infrastructure.
• Experience with RedwoodJS, React, TypeScript, Node, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
• Ability to work in person at the New York City office at least 3 days per week.
