AI Research Engineer

Location: Must be based in or able to work on-site in Palo Alto or San Francisco

Salary: $150,000 – $300,000 + Equity

What you will do

• Design and train embedding models and neural ranking systems at scale.
• Solve research problems related to semantic intent, retrieval latency, and index freshness.
• Bridge the gap between theoretical research and production-grade infrastructure.
• Build information retrieval systems specifically optimized for AI agents and LLMs.
• Debug distributed training pipelines and optimize model performance.

Requirements

• Experience with information retrieval systems, embedding models, or neural ranking at scale.
• Ability to read and implement research from SIGIR and RecSys.
• Strong engineering mindset with experience in production environments.
• Must be able to work fully in-person in Palo Alto or San Francisco.
