Backend Engineer (Mid-Level) (AI)

Location: San Jose Office (HQ), New York City Office, San Francisco Office, or Seattle Office

Salary: $200K–$250K annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services with Python, FastAPI, and SQLAlchemy.
• Build microservices for data processing, automation, and AI system integrations.
• Optimize database schemas, queries, caching, and backend performance for scalability.
• Develop data pipelines and synchronization services for enterprise integrations.
• Connect backend services with AI model servers, vector databases, and workflow automation systems.
• Deploy and maintain cloud-based services with DevOps partners on AWS or GCP.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of backend development experience focused on APIs, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, or similar frameworks.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL and data modeling best practices.
• Familiarity with Redis, message queues such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Pub/Sub, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience with cloud storage such as AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, or Azure Blob Storage.
• Understanding of API authentication, security, scalability, debugging, testing, and performance optimization.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating AI/ML models into backend systems.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures or workflow automation systems.
• Previous experience in startups or high-growth technology companies.
