Backend AI Engineer (AI)

Location: Fully in-office, 5 days a week, based in New York

Salary: $150,000–$300,000 U.S. base salary per year, plus equity and benefits

hirify.global builds an AI site reliability engineer for enterprise production environments, helping detect, troubleshoot, remediate, and prevent complex incidents.

What you will do

• Design and build scalable backend systems supporting AI agents and observability tools.
• Develop high-performance APIs for backend services and frontend integrations.
• Build systems for ingesting, storing, retrieving, and processing logs, metrics, and traces at scale.
• Integrate AI-driven insights, agent architectures, and machine learning algorithms into production systems.
• Optimize backend services for high data volumes and low-latency performance across SaaS and on-prem deployments.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior backend engineers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend development and full-stack systems.
• Strong experience with Python and web frameworks such as FastAPI.
• Experience deploying applications on AWS with ECS or Kubernetes.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and S3 for data storage and object storage.
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools.
• Ability to lead in a fast-paced startup environment with shifting priorities and minimal structure.

Nice to have

• Experience with agentic AI systems or the observability domain.
• Background in large-scale, complex, data-driven applications.
• Familiarity with AI- or LLM-powered products.
• Familiarity with Python-based ecosystems.
