Senior Backend Java Engineer (CI/CD & DevOps)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; hybrid work with regular in-person attendance

Salary: $140,000–$155,000 per year, plus bonus or incentive opportunities

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and GitHub Workflows.
• Automate build, testing, security scanning, and deployment workflows across multiple environments.
• Deploy applications to Pivotal Cloud Foundry and Google Cloud Platform, and maintain Helm charts for Kubernetes deployments.
• Support blue-green, canary, and rolling deployment strategies while improving release automation.
• Develop and maintain scalable Java backend services for a mission-critical authentication platform, including SSO integrations.
• Coordinate with development, platform, SRE, Scrum Master, product owner, and onshore/offshore teams to improve delivery practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of Java/J2EE enterprise application design and deployment experience and 7+ years of software development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Agile principles, object-oriented analysis, design patterns, architecture standards, and server-side development.
• 2–3+ years of experience with MongoDB, SAML, OAuth, REST Web Services, Kafka, and transaction processing environments.
• Experience with CI/CD security, auditability, artifact repositories, secret management, configuration management, and troubleshooting deployment failures.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in Austin, Texas, with regular in-person collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with online security and user authentication.
• Master’s degree in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field.
• .NET, Angular, or Kafka middleware experience.
