Lead Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Buffalo, New York, United States; in-office work required four days per week

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and transition enterprise applications through approved SDLC processes.
• Enforce peer review, source control, change management, testing, release evidence, and production governance.
• Build and operate resilient, scalable Java microservices with observability, fault tolerance, recoverability, and strict idempotency.
• Support collections servicing systems for Consumer, Commercial, and Business Banking.
• Review testing strategies, coverage, performance, resiliency, and optimization practices.
• Partner across teams to manage technical risks, validate requirements, and improve engineering and delivery metrics.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, plus six years of relevant experience.
• Six years of experience developing enterprise solutions with Java 8/17, Oracle, SQL Server, Spring Boot, Apache Camel, WebFlux, Reactor, JPA or Hibernate, and concurrency models.
• Six years of experience with regulated collections systems, including CACS or an equivalent platform, and financial services risk, governance, security, and audit standards.
• Six years of experience with Spring Security, OAuth2/JWT, SAML 2.0, LDAP/Active Directory, GitLab, Zephyr, SoapUI, Postman, PowerShell, and Linux shell scripting.
• Five years of experience with GitLab CI/CD, Maven, Gradle, Docker, Kubernetes, Microsoft Azure, OpenShift, Azure Entra, and enterprise Java application servers.
• Five years of experience with IBM MQ/JMS, document and print pipelines, JSF, PrimeFaces, Angular, AS400/iSeries or z/OS integration, Automic, and Azure production operations.
