Staff Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; on-site. Relocation assistance and visa and green card support are available for successful applicants moving to San Francisco.

Salary: $287K–$485K annually.

What you will do

• Build reliable backend systems that process and analyze millions of contracts at scale.
• Design pipelines orchestrating LLMs, data extraction, and clustering algorithms.
• Create accurate search and retrieval systems for large contract databases.
• Develop AI-powered capabilities including legal fact extraction, deviation analysis, and composite contract generation.
• Collaborate with lawyers and product partners to turn evolving LLM capabilities into practical product features.
• Make pragmatic engineering decisions focused on product impact and high-leverage solutions.

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering experience building scalable production systems.
• Ability to design and implement reliable data and AI pipelines.
• Experience working with LLMs, data extraction, search and retrieval, or clustering systems.
• A strong sense of urgency, resourcefulness, and ownership.
• Willingness to work on-site in San Francisco or relocate there.
