Salary: $129,500–$166,000 for Research Specialist; $131,400–$168,400 for Scientist I, Pharmacology; $148,400–$190,300 for Scientist II, Pharmacology. Exact compensation varies by skills, experience, and location.

What you will do

• Design and execute ex vivo assays on diverse tissues from in vivo studies, analyze results, and communicate findings.
• Support biomarker discovery and other ex vivo biological analyses with IVTS scientists, Altos Hubs, and cross-functional teams.
• Develop, optimize, and validate assays, including dilution testing, control validation, and protocol validation.
• Evaluate and implement technologies and platforms that improve study efficiency, quality, and reproducibility.
• Document studies in an electronic lab notebook and collaborate with in vivo operations, Discovery Sciences, in vitro Pharmacology, and Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics teams.
• Spend approximately 80% of the role on benchtop science while contributing to continuous improvement and inclusive team collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 8+ years of industry experience for the Research Specialist level, or a PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a related field with at least 4 years of relevant industry experience for the Scientist level.
• Extensive experience designing and executing biochemical and biophysical assays, including enzymatic assays, ELISAs, MSD, AlphaLISA, Western blots, qPCR, and ddPCR.
• Experience with target engagement assays across diverse tissue and biofluid matrices.
• Strong tissue-processing expertise, including nucleic acid and protein extraction, quantification, and quality control.
• Ability to design and troubleshoot rigorous, reproducible assays for small molecules, biologics, and gene therapies.
• Clear scientific documentation and communication skills, with strong collaboration across cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-throughput screening platforms, assay miniaturization, microscopy, high-content imaging, flow cytometry, or immunoprecipitation assays.
• Experience with pharmacological characterization.
• Experience working with cellular or animal models relevant to age-related metabolic, neurodegenerative, immune-related, cardiovascular, or musculoskeletal diseases.
