Production Technician Contractor (Electromechanical Assembly)

Location: Somerville, Massachusetts, United States; on-site, second shift from 2:30 pm to 11:30 pm

Salary: $30–$41 per hour; six-month contract term

What you will do

• Build, test, and monitor electromechanical parts, assemblies, and superconducting magnet equipment.
• Perform production builds according to procedures, specifications, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and test instructions.
• Operate precision tools and calibrated equipment, including torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing discrepancies, identify product issues, and recommend process improvements.
• Help develop and qualify manufacturing techniques while collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and other departments.
• Communicate challenges and ideas effectively while supporting safe, high-quality production.

Requirements

• At least six years of experience with hand tools and mechanical or electrical assembly.
• High school diploma, equivalency certificate, or higher.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and remain standing, sitting, stooping, or typing for extended periods.
• Ability to work on-site in Somerville and work required nights, weekends, or occasional on-call shifts.
• Commitment to safety when working around heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, and cryogenic hazards.

Nice to have

• Experience with winding equipment, PLCs, material processing, cryogenic chemicals, power tools, electrical schematics, wiring, or harness builds.
• Experience with epoxy potting, injection molding, plumbing, vacuum systems, or soldering.
• Ability to work independently, follow leadership direction, and complete assembly and testing projects from start to finish.
