Composite Technician (Contract) (Aerospace): Creating, installing, and maintaining prototype composite components for aerospace testing, proof of concept, and production transition with an accent on prepreg and wet layup, bonding, curing, precision assembly, and metrology. Focus on fabricating tooling and molds, troubleshooting defects, supporting first article builds, and solving composite fabrication challenges with engineers and shop personnel.

Location: Onsite in Englewood, Colorado, United States

Salary: $27–$40 per hour, plus potential incentive compensation and benefits

What you will do

  • Create prototype aerospace parts for testing, proof of concept, and display.
  • Build and assemble mechanical components from solid models, engineering drawings, work instructions, and process specifications.
  • Perform prepreg and wet layup fabrication, vacuum bagging, bonding, and oven or autoclave curing.
  • Fabricate tooling, molds, and fixtures; install fasteners, rivets, adhesives, finishes, primers, and coatings.
  • Operate precision tools, metrology systems, and calibrated instruments while troubleshooting, reworking, repairing, and modifying parts.
  • Support first article builds, production transition, continuous improvement, and collaboration with engineering, production, and quality teams.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent technical training.
  • 1–2 years of hands-on composite fabrication experience in a production or aerospace environment.
  • Strong knowledge of composite layup, adhesive bonding, and mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, solid models, work instructions, and GD&T according to ASME Y14.5.
  • Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, indicators, Romer Arm, CMM, or comparable metrology systems.
  • Dependability, adaptability, multitasking ability, collaboration skills, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Nice to have

  • Interest or experience in electrical systems, welding, additive manufacturing, or engineering testing.
  • Experience fabricating tooling, molds, and fixtures from aluminum, composites, and wood.
  • Experience mentoring entry-level engineers in composite fabrication techniques.
