Electro-Mechanical Build Technician (Fusion Energy)

Location: Los Lunas, New Mexico, United States; onsite laboratory and manufacturing work

Salary: $33.03–$58.32 USD per hour

What you will do

• Lead assembly, installation, maintenance, testing, and validation of fusion-system electrical and mechanical components.
• Set up automated manufacturing lines, equipment, facilities, storage, and the manufacturing site.
• Support rapid prototyping and engineering design, development, and testing activities.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize equipment while minimizing downtime.
• Receive deliveries, manage inventory, and maintain an organized manufacturing environment using 5S principles.
• Draft SOPs and safety procedures and collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of hands-on technician experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex electromechanical systems.
• Extensive forklift-driving experience and proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and protocols and communicate with technicians and engineers in person and remotely.
• Physical ability to squat, reach, climb, stand for prolonged periods, lift objects up to 50 lbs, and work hands-on with laboratory tools and equipment.
• Ability to comply with applicable ISO, state, federal, safety, and company-specific regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with CAD software, technical drawings, automation equipment, or automated manufacturing processes.
• Experience setting up a new manufacturing facility, preferably in a startup environment.
• Experience operating machine-shop tools such as lathes, mills, CNC machines, and drill presses.
• Experience interviewing, hiring, and training technicians.
• Associate’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience in machining, welding, construction, auto mechanics, or similar work.
