Engineering Technician

hirify.global develops stellarator-based fusion energy systems using computer-controlled arrays of planar coils to support commercial zero-emission energy.

What you will do

• Build, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems.
• Assemble and troubleshoot test articles and supporting test equipment.
• Assist with developing equipment, tools, procedures, and inspection techniques that reduce production time while maintaining quality.
• Support manufacturing process and tooling development.
• Maintain organized tools and workspaces.

Requirements

• High-school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience in shop fabrication, manufacturing, research, or a high-tech industry.
• At least 5 years of technical experience with mechanical or electrical systems, high-pressure or high-vacuum systems, cryogenics, plumbing, soldering, system testing, power systems, or controls systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs and perform extended periods of typing, standing, or sitting.
• Ability to work around industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics; willingness to work occasional nights, weekends, on-call shifts, or travel.

Nice to have

• Experience with quality control, inspection procedures, automation equipment, PLCs, HMIs, or process controllers.
• Experience with reflow soldering and PCBA manufacturing.
• Experience with electrical schematics, wiring, precision measurement tools, mechanical drawings, machining, manual milling, saws, cranes, or forklifts.
• Experience documenting, improving, and implementing process instructions.
